I just want to profile the outside of this part. Really i don't need to cut "around it," just the little indentations on the sides, since my stock is already the proper OD.
I have tried alot of settings but I cannot get the output to stay on the OUTSIDE of the part. It does a circular pattern and takes off extra material...
What may I be doing wrong? Might I have to use cylindrical stock instead of stock from selection?

For profiling you would need just a 2D curve. It looks like you are selecting 3D curves. Just extract the 2-D silhouette of the geometry you want to profile in Rhino and use this geometry in the profiling toolpath. Think of the 21/2 axis toolpath as an extrude cut operation along the Z axis with the profile curve as the geometry being extruded.
Worked like a charm.
