Region Stock impossible

Post by Happy VM5 User »

Hi,
since I went to SP9, it´s not possible for me to create stock from region.
Others work: Import stock from STL-file or part offset stock ...
Especially for small milltools (0.3mm) in big regions (600x600mm)
it is worth to create a small region for quicker and finer simulation.

Who has advice?

Thanks
Robert

Hi Robert,
Our tests indicate that region stock is working fine in SP9. This could be something part specific. Try downloading www.mecsoft.com/VisualMill5_0.zip and try again if you are still having problems. You can also send in the file to us for us to take a look.

Happy

I have found that regions stock will not work in polygonal sim mode ONLY in voxel.
I don't know if this is a problem in the program or if it is just the way it has to be.

The Polygonal simulation module requires a water tight input model. For the stock model using curves, we did quite a bit of work making sure that the model is water tight before sending it to Machineworks. There still could be issues with gaps etc. that is making Machineworks not create the model correctly. So if you run into such situations, please send us the vmp file with the regions that you are trying to use for creating the stock model.

Thank you all,

Dare Bee is right.
I changed the model to Voxel and it worked.
Another 5Axis model in Polygonalmodel did not.
Now I made a new drawing, simply a rectangle Region and tested.
It works in Voxel ONLY.

Robert,
I tried it here and it seems to be working correctly. I could even created nested regions for stock model.

Download www.mecsoft.com/VisualMill5_0.zip and try again just to make sure you have the latest version.

If we SHOULD be able to make stock model from regions in polygonal, don't you find it odd that more than 1 of us have exactly the same problem?
I am on SP9 as well, and my regions are usually a circle. If VM would allow me to create round stock along the Z axis I would probably never need to use regions stock anyway.
Robert - if a reinstall fixes this for you please let me know and I will do the same.
PS What is the status on the release date of VM6, I am looking forward to seeing what you guys have up your sleave
