Straight facets on curves

Post by wabecomilluser »

Hi, I was sent an .iges file originally drawn in Rnino cad which was a small shield. After machining, I looked at the curved machined outer profiled surface and rather than being a smooth curve it turned out with straight facets. Is there a setting to reduce the size of these facets to give a better appearance.
Thanks
John.

Check the part faceting tolerance you currently have set in VisualCAD. This can be found under Tolerance and Options in the Options dialog. The options dialog is located on the home tab. If the part you imported is faceted, set the chordal Deviation/Chord height tolerance tighter. If you are working in inch units, you could set this to 0.001 or 0.0001. For millimeter units set this to 0.01. You would have to Import the iges file after you changed the part faceting tolerance.
